Baksei Chamkrong is a Hindu dedicated to Lord Shiva and even used to hold a golden image of him. The temple can be seen on the left side when entering Angkor Thom at the southern gate. It was built by King Harshavarman I to honor is father Yasovarman.

Angkor Wat is the largest religious monument in the world, on a site measuring 162.6 hectares. Built by the Suryavarman II in the middle of the 12th century at the peak of the Khmer Empire, it represents Meru mountains and the might of the Khmer Empire at the time.

Tonle Om Gate is the principal gate and was allowed to use only for hight class people when they wanted to visit the King. You can also see the bridge with sculptures of Demons and Gods on the opposite bridge sides.

One of the biggest Buddhist monasteries in the Khmer Kingdom was built in the center of Angkor Tom and is known for the multitude of serene and smiling stone faces which used to be decorated in gold and silver. The temple dates back to the end of the 12th century and stretching over 2 ha area.

The Baphuon temple was built in the mid-11th century, as a three-tiered temple mountain and dedicated to the Hindu God Shiva. The temple measures 120 metres by 100 metres at its base and stands 34 meters tall without its tower, which would have made it roughly 50 meters tall. It is the archetype of the Baphuon style with intricate carvings covering every available surface.

The 350m-long terrace was used as a giant platform for public ceremonies and welcoming victoriously returning armies. Most of the original structure has disappeared long ago but up to this day you can see original elephant carvings on the east side.

East Prasat Top is the last known Hindu temple to be built at Angkor, just before Buddhism was becoming the main religon of Khmer Empire. It is also the last of the monuments with a dated inscription refering to the period that followed the death of Jayavarman VII. Built on the late 13th – early 14th century, it is believed to honor of the Brahman scholar Mangalartha.

Tradition holds that the name “Gate of the Dead” derives from the custom of the gate only being used when transporting a king to his funeral, but there is no historical evidence for this. More likely the gate simply served as the east entrance to Angkor Thom

Buddhist temple built by Jayavarman VII who dedicated it to his mother. The temple represents cemetery and was also used as the Royal University of Khmer Empire.
